Celestine H. Filipkowski, formerly of Pittston, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022.
She was the beloved wife of the late Edward T. Filipkowski. Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Gudaitis Senausky.
Celestine was a graduate of West Pittston High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College, she was employed as Assistant to the Sales/Service Manager of The Duplan Corporation, Kingston.
Celestine was very active in the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs, having served on their State Board as Chairman for the Margaret Yardley Fellowship Fund, Education Chairman and Fourth District Vice-President. She was also a member of the Woman’s Literary Club of Bound Brook, New Jersey and served as their President when they celebrated their 100th Anniversary, as well as the Ex Club and the Phoenix Club of New Jersey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter Jr. and Francis; and sisters Annamarie Sewatsky and Irene Krischunis.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday August 11, 2022, at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street Pittston. Those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Pittston.
Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston. Donations in Celestine’s honor may be made to the Care and Concern Ministries, St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
