Charles “Chuck” Adonizio, 81, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Pittston on June 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Charles “Chick” and Betty Cotter Adonizio.
Chuck was a graduate of St. John’s High School and Fork Union Military Academy. He attended the University of Pittsburgh where he played football and graduated from Wilkes University where he was a football coach. He was a former season ticket holder for Pitt football for many years. He was also a fan of Notre Dame football, and NY Yankees baseball. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his friends and his sons.
He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston.
He was the General Superintendent of the Addy Asphalt Company, Addy Construction Company, and Keystone Quarry all family businesses for over thirty-five years. He then owned and operated C & J Blacktop.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Catherine (Kate) Fahey Adonizio; sons, Charles Adonizio Jr., Wilkes-Barre and Patrick Adonizio and his wife Cheryl, Alabama; daughters, Kerry Adonizio, Louisiana and Molly and her husband Robert Stillarty, Kingston; grandchildren, Michael Adonizio and Nina Stillarty; sister, Betty Jane and her husband Joseph Adochio, New Jersey; sisters-in-law; cousins; nieces; and nephews.
A private Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In accordance with Charles’ wishes, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
