Charles Dallas Thomas

Charles Dallas Thomas, 73, of West Pittston, surrounded by his loving family, moved on from this world on May 19, 2022. With sadness in our hearts we find solace in knowing that he is in a better place.

Born in Bethlehem on September 7th, 1948, he was the son of the late Alan and Peg Thomas. He was a graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State University and his Master’s Degree from Marywood University. He had a long and rewarding career as a social worker for Luzerne County Children and Youth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dr. Alfred Rotondaro.

Known to most as Chuck, he is survived by his wife, Mary Rotondaro Thomas, son, Jason Thomas-Koveleski, daughter, Gabrielle Santiago, sons-in-law, Nick Thomas-

Koveleski and Mike Santiago, grandchildren, Olivia and Michael Santiago, sister-in-law Kathleen Rotondaro, and several nieces and nephews.

It was the simple things in life that brought Chuck the most happiness. He could often be seen on walks through West Pittston with his beloved dogs Belle and more recently, Jackson. He also enjoyed fishing along the Susquehanna. He was an avid reader, loved to work out and wash his car in the driveway. He served on the Greater Pittston YMCA Board of Directors for many years and could be seen there most days swimming laps in the pool. He enjoyed dinners around town at Sabatini’s, Agolino’s, and especially Fox Hill.

Chuck was a remarkable gentleman and he was a very classy dresser. As he often said, “You can never be too overdressed”. He was quiet, gentle and had a sense of humor like no other. Throughout his illness, he maintained all of these wonderful qualities. Chuck had an unmatched intelligence and was the one everyone went to with a difficult problem, taking delight in his ability to research and find the answer.

The most important thing in Chuck’s life was his family, especially his children, Jason and Gabby, who he treasured with all his heart. He would always say they were his “joy.” He was the proudest and most loving grandpa to Olivia and Michael and he loved and admired his two sons-in-law, Mike and Nick. His college sweetheart, Missy, was the love of his life and his very best friend for over 50 years. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 19, 2022.

Charles Dallas Thomas was a patient and kind man with a special, old world kind of dignity.

We will hold him in our hearts forever, for he was the heart of our family.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 5pm-8pm with a Blessing Service at 7:30pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. Interment, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, 10am in West Pittston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William Street, Dunmore, PA 18510.
