Dennis George Corcoran

Dennis George Corcoran, 81, of Pittston Township, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 2, 1942, he was the son of the late Naomi Rooney Gilmartin.

He was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also served his community and was a lifetime member of Jenkins Twp Fire Department.

Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be greatly missed. He was known for telling jokes even until his final hours.

He spent his early career working as a computer programmer for Univac in Washington, D.C. and Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. After returning to Northeast Pennsylvania, he held various positions and retired from Clarks Summit State Hospital where he was the warehouse supervisor.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Patricia Salvo Corcoran; daughters, Denise Casterline, Exeter and Renee Falzone and her husband Scott, Tunkhannock; grandchildren, Vanessa Casterline, Amanda Casterline, and Kelly Casterline; Alexandra Falzone, Joshua Falzone, and Eric Falzone; brothers, James Corcoran and his wife Linda, Delaware and William Gilmartin and his wife Sandy, Jenkins Township; sisters, Mary Catherine Dabbieri and her husband John, Plains and Janice Kosik and her husband George, Laflin; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Murray, Ashley; Lucy Salvo, Pittston Township; Mary Falzone, Swoyersville; and Helen Poole and her husband Arthur, Bear Creek; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 4pm-7pm and Monday, May 8, 2023, from 9:30am – 10:30am in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. Religious services will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11am in Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Montgomery Avenue, West Pittston. Interment to follow in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research hospital or Irem Shriners Children’s Hospital.
