Frank Tierney, 85, of Hughestown, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born in Pittston on October 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret Shier Tierney.


He was a graduate of Pittston High School and served in the U.S. Army. In his earlier years, he had worked at Pittston Apparel, King Beverage, and Falcone Beverage. He was the proprietor of the Hill Inn, Hughestown for over 35 years.


He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Hughestown Lions Club, and the Umpire’s Group. He was a third-degree member of the Kings of Columbus. Frank was a loving husband and father and great friend to all. He loved the University of Notre Dame, and Notre Dame football.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen Tierney in 2014 and sister, Mary Jean Baloga.


Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Doreen Doran Tierney; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Thomas Patrick, Hughestown; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston.
