Gloria Macario Kizis

Gloria Macario Kizis, 70, of Pittston, formerly of Jersey Shore, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, surrounded by the cherished memories she held close to her heart.

Born in Warrington, England on July 14, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Angelo Macario and Sheila Helsby Agolino. Gloria was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and received an associates degree as a paralegal. She was a loyal and dedicated employee starting at Marshall Parker & Associates and then Colbert & Grebas.

Her love for the beach was more than a mere preference; it was a part of her very essence. The rhythmic waves, the salty breeze, and the endless stretch of sand held a special place in her soul. Whether it was the early morning walks along the coastline or the sound of the rolling tide, the beach was where she felt most at home.

She shared an extraordinary love with her late husband, Danny, who had departed before her. They enjoyed spending quiet nights at their serene creekside home, hosting large gatherings of friends and family, attending rock concerts, and traveling the world together.

Among Gloria's many gifts was her boundless affection for her family. She thrived taking road trips and watching sunsets at the beach with her sister. She embraced her role as an aunt with open arms and every special moment was enriched by her presence.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Macario.

Surviving are her sister, Angela Macario Lopiano and husband Stephen; brother, Robert Macario and wife Diane; brother, Angelo Macario and husband Stephen; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews on both sides.

The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 3pm-5pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. To commemorate Gloria’s lifelong advocacy for women’s rights, memorial contributions can be made to Ruth’s Place in Wilkes-Barre.
