Ida A. LaFratte of Pittston Twp., passed away peacefully Friday evening October 17, 2025. She was the widow of Louis LaFratte, Sr. who passed away March 11, 2015.

Ida was born and raised in Pittston Twp. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Louisa Filippetti Bicchielli who immigrated to the United States from Gualdo, Italy.


She was a graduate of Pittston Twp. High School, Class of 1952 and enjoyed attending many class reunions.


Ida was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, St. Joseph Marello Parish, and attended daily mass. She worked many years at the church festivals where she could be found happily working the Pizza Fritta Stand.


She worked for over 40 years for Lore Dress Co. and took great pride in making wedding dresses. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.


Ida enjoyed going to lunch with her lifelong friends Joni, Ida, Connie, Ruth and Clara and her last outing was dinner with Father Adonizio whom she held in the highest regard. Also, she enjoyed going on trips to the Casino with Stella.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Bicchielli and sisters; Ann Marie Marcellini, Josephine Mancia, Celia Bicchielli, and Nicoletta Goldsworthy, and nephews, Bruno Marcellini, Jr. and Joseph Marcellini.


She is survived by her son, Louis LaFratte, Jr. and his wife Natalie and her granddaughter, Aela LaFratte, who was the light of her life and was considered to be her greatest gift. Also, daughter Theresa A. Kinsey and her husband Gary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Ida lived a full life and was blessed with good health right until her final days. She was known for her kindness and willingness to help anyone, and was the first to send a card for any occasion. Her smile will be dearly missed by all those who love her.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday October 25, 2025 at 9:30AM in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston.


The family will receive friends and relatives from 8:30AM until the time of mass.


Entombment will follow in the Denison Cemetery Mausoleum, Swoyersville.


Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC – Pittston.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and the world truly lost a bright light. My whole family loved her, and we will deeply miss her. We will treasure all the wonderful memories we have had with your family forever. Sending lots of love and prayers!!

It is with profound sadness I offer my sincere condolences to the LaFratte family. I have so many wonderful memories growing up with her and her family that I will cherish forever. Ida was like a second mom to me….forever in my heart.
