James T. Francioso, Jr.

The Lord called home, James T. Francioso, Jr., 87, to his heavenly home on September 6, 2023 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY., surrounded by his family.

Born in Pittston on August 25, 1936, he was the son of the late James Francioso, Sr. and Mary (Mamie) Zawatski Francioso.


Jim was a graduate of Hughestown High School and Penn State where he received his Draftsman Degree. He retired as a foreman from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He loved sports. He played basketball for Hughestown High School and played with the Red Devils Baseball Team. He was an avid bowler and golfer.


Jim was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Pittston. Jim was a member of the Pittston Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother who will be missed.


In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Ann Musto Francioso in 2007, nephew Michael Kirkpatrick, as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his daughter, Terese Ginocchetti and her husband David, Cazenovia, NY; granddaughter, Lauren Rose Ginocchetti, Cazenovia, NY; sisters, Loretta Kirkpatrick, Pittston and Mary Ann Astolfi and her husband, Raymond, Old Forge; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.


The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 1 P.M. in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston, PA. Interment will be at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston, PA.
