Jean Ann Ritter

Jean Ann Ritter, 90, formerly of West Pittston, passed away Wednesday evening, February 21, 2024, at her daughter’s residence in Bethlehem.

Born in Dunmore on June 24, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Elizabeth Murphy Casarella.

Jean was a proud graduate of Exeter High School, class of 1951.  She completed cosmetology school at Bradford Beauty Academy and had worked as a hairstylist, owning her own business for many years.  Faith, family, and friends were her guiding light, as she also became a loving caregiver to many.  She instilled values and wisdom as a CCD teacher, and later, as an accomplished poet. Her works gave us insight to her perspective on life.

She was truly happiest when cooking favorite meals for everyone and visiting around the kitchen table. Visits from grandchildren and great- grandchildren highlighted her days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, 1999, by her husband, Leonard Ritter; brothers, Frank and Samuel Casarella and sisters, Mary Dente and Helen Mauriello, in addition to sister-in-laws Mary Calia Casarella and Catherine "Kitty" Casarella; brothers-in-law Ralph Dente and Andrew Mauriello.

Surviving are her daughters, Linda Borosky (Paul), Bethlehem with whom she resided; Ann Marie Mecadon (Michael), Pittston and Sandy George (Bruce), Bethlehem; grandchildren, Alison Emkey (Dave); Jacqueline Kohler (Jared); Natalie Borosky; Brian Borosky; Michaeline Mecadon; Michael Mecadon; Serena George; Cassandra Taylor (Mo); Adrian George; and Megan Shively (Logan); great grandchildren, Josephine, Emmitt, Kyle, Bryce, Anthony, Korah, Tessa, and Nico; brother, Joseph Casarella (Charlotte), Stillwater; numerous dear nieces and nephews.
