Joan C. Healey

Joan C. Healey, 65, of Pittston, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023, at home under the loving care of her husband, Patrick.

Born in Pittston on January 9, 1958, she was the daughter of Maryanna Ward and the late Edward T. Ward.

Joanie was a graduate of St. John’s High School and attended Luzerne County Community College. She retired as a Marketing Assistant from Prudential Financial Services.

It would be wrong to say that Joanie lost her long battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer, because she never stopped fighting. When anyone else would have broken, she stayed strong and determined to spend another day with her family and friends. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Joanie was a beloved wife, friend, daughter, mother, and “Zizi”. She treasured these roles most in life and will be remembered for her loving, devoted, and kind spirit.

Joanie was truly a woman of elegance, grace and laughter. She surrounded herself with family and many special friends. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and other family and friends who will always remember the impact she had on their lives.

The family wishes to thank Joanie's many physicians, nurses, and caregivers throughout her illness. Specifically, the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Oncology, Radiology, and Otolaryngology Departments, the Frank M and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, Aveanna Home Health, and Allied Services Hospice Center who provided extraordinary loving care to Joanie and her family during her final weeks.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Patricia Ward and a brother-in-law, Paul Joseph Healey.

Surviving are her husband, Patrick D. Healey, Sr., sons Sean Healey (Courtney), Malvern and Patrick D. Healey, Jr. (Marissa), Dallas; grandchildren, Weston, Everett, Ella and Grace; sisters, Margaret Ward, Pittston and Susan Walsh (Douglas), South Abington Township; brothers, Joseph Ward (Gwen), Pittston, and Edward T. Ward, Jr. (Rose), Pinehurst, NC; sisters-in-law, Karen Fata (Frank), Clarks Summit and Mary Beth Goul (Joseph), Collegeville, PA; brothers-in-law, Timothy Healey (Denise), Moosic and Thomas Healey (Joann) Moosic; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 5pm-8pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Private interment in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
