Joan Lombardo, 93, formerly of Pittston, passed Wednesday July 24, 2024 at Serenity Care, Kingston, where she had been a resident for the past 7 years.
Born in Pittston she was the daughter of the late Myles and Helen Yackow McDonald.
Joan was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School and Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. She started her nursing career at Pittston Hospital before going to Valley Crest, working her way to Nursing Supervisor. Joan finally retired as a nurse from Wesley Village.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Sam Lombardo; brother, Myles McDonald and sister Elizabeth (Betty) Casey.
She is survived by her children; daughter, Mary Beth Moss (Stephen) Shavertown, sons; Sam Lombardo (Amber) Forty Fort, and Joe Lombardo (Karen) Avoca. Also Surviving, grandchildren; Lori Yanchick (TJ), Stephen Moss (Samantha), Patrick Moss, Lauren Bringham (Jason), Nia Lombardo and great-grandchildren Jax, Alivia, Leona.
Joan was deeply religious and brought faith and joy to many lives.
The family is thankful for the loving kindness of the staff at Serenity Care.
Funeral arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston.
