Joanne F. English, 87, of West Pittston, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at Wesley Village.

Born in West Pittston on June 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Pauline (Ciampi) Aufiero.

She was a 1958 graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Pittston, PA.  After high school she worked at Pittston Hospital as a receptionist where she met the love of her life, Jim.  When he returned from overseas duty with the Army, they were married August 19, 1967, by Joanne’s cousin Father Ciampi and took up residence in her family home in West Pittston.

Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and woman of deep faith.  She loved canning vegetables grown by Jim in their garden and was an excellent cook.  Crocheting was her favorite hobby which she would do with her best friend Bev.  She talked to her friends almost every night on the phone.

Though Parkinsons brought challenges in her later years, Jim’s loving care allowed her to continue her daily life with dignity and comfort until she required skilled nursing care.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Dominic and Ann Nallen Aufiero.

Joanne is survived by Jim, her husband of 58 years and her daughter, Christine English, Ocean City, MD, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Pat and E.C. Hamm, Virginia Beach, VA, and nephews Donald Coons, King George, VA and Dominic Aufiero, Wilkes-Barre, PA and numerous cousins.

Relatives and friends may attend visitation on Saturday April 25, 2026 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Church (Corpus Christi Parish), West Pittston followed by the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of the Sacred Heart and staff at Wesley Village for the exceptional care and compassion shown to her and the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Corpus Christi Parish – Social Concerns or to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Moosic PA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC
