John Poli, 66, of Hughestown passed away with his family by side on August 18, 2025 after brief illness.
Born in Hughestown, on May 19, 1959, he was the only child to John Quinto Poli and Edith Adonizio Poli.

John, who many family and friends referred to as “Poli,” was a 1977 graduate of Pittston Area High School and then earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Kings College.
During his time at Pittston Area, John was a standout sprinter on the track and field team as he qualified for the 1977 PIAA state championships in the 220-yard dash and the 4x1 relay in which he anchored the team to the District Championship.
Following his track and field days, John was an excellent softball player throughout numerous leagues across the area and in 1986, he was the right centerfielder for the CJ Asphalt team that won the Pennsylvania Class D State Championship.
Throughout his life, he held jobs at Techneglas, Waste Management and Mohegan Pennsylvania.
In 2004, John was eventually laid off from Techneglas and was recognized by the national media as he was one of three former Techneglas employees asked to meet with then Democratic vice-presidential nominee, U.S. Senator John Edwards.
In addition to his work, he also served his forever hometown of Hughestown as the Tax Collector for numerous years.
John was a devout husband and dearly missed his late wife, Camille Nardone Poli, who passed away on their 32nd wedding anniversary on December, 4, 2024. It is without a doubt that their eight months apart was heartbreaking, but now they are forever together in heaven.
In addition to being a great husband, he was also an amazing father and a standout grandfather. Also, his loving ways extended out to so many family and friends, who will forever mourn his loss.
Outside of his family and friends, John loved vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland and Las Vegas, watching every sport possible, but none as much as his beloved Green Bay Packers and Boston Celtics and visiting local bars to enjoy a nice ice-cold Miller Lite.
Surviving are his three children, Annemarie Mazur Rovinski and her husband, Greg Rovinski; sons John Eric Poli and Dr. Charles Poli; grandchildren Lucca and Pia Rovinski; sister-in-law Annette Nardone Adair; nephew A.J. Adair and his wife Dana Adair; niece Karlee Adair; great nephews Kallen Adair and Stanley Adair, uncle Rev. Joseph Adonizio, cousins and extended family and friends.
