John Stanley Bolinski

John Stanley Bolinski, 97, of Hughestown, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023 in Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Dupont on September 5, 1925, he was the son of the late Stephen and Stella Lacomis Bolinski.


John attended Dupont schools. He began his career as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy, in California, during World War II, where he learned to be an electrician. John had worked for Graham Electric and Pagnotti Coal Company. Upon retirement, he worked maintenance for the Athletic Club, Wilkes-Barre, until the age of 94.


He was a member of the Mineworkers union, a member of St. John the Baptist Church, now St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. John was the last of the founding members of the Elm Street Sportsman Club, Suscon.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Irene Budzak Bolinski in 1999; sisters, Theresa Gall and Dolores Kishel.


Surviving are children, Sister Linda Marie Bolinski, SS.C.M., San Antonio, Texas; Cathy Bolinski, Hughestown; John Bolinski (Donna), Spirit Lake, Idaho; and Michelle Williard (Larry), Pittston; grandchildren, Brian Bolinski, Olympia, Washington; Joseph Meranti, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Kathryn Lokuta, Pittston; great grandchildren, Alessondra, Makayla, and Joseph (J.J.) Meranti; Lucas, Jason, and Gabriel Lokuta, all of Pittston; nieces and nephews.


The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 4pm-7pm and Friday, March 3, 2023, from 8am-9am in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment, St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schooley Avenue, Exeter.


Memorial donations may be made to Allied Services Hospice Center, 200 S. Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA18702 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
