Joseph E. Chiumento, 91, of Jenkins Twp., passed away Tuesday morning June 30, 2026, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born in Yatesville, he was the son of the late John and Mary Martino Chiumento.
He was a graduate of Jenkins Twp. High School and honorably served in the US Army.
Joe retired as a production supervisor, having worked for many years at Owens and Illinois and later Letica Corp.
He enjoyed all sports, he was especially a fan of Penn State, New York Yankees and New York Giants.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years Phyllis Marchise Chiumento, his brothers; James, John, Ronald, and Anthony, his sisters; Grace Butler, Ida Brogna, Josephine Fabrizio, and Mary Alt.
He is survived by his son, John Chiumento and his wife Marianne, Jenkins Twp. and grandsons; Joseph Chiumento and his wife Marissa, Pittston Twp., and Bradley Chiumento and his wife Mary, Old Forge, his brother Nicholas A. Chiumento, and his sisters; Antoinette Vidzar and Betty Chimento, all of Yatesville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the visiting nurses and the occupational therapists from Pathways Healthcare and the staff at Fresenius Medical Care in Pittston, as well as the staff in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the care they provided and the respect they showed to Mr. Chiumento.
The family will receive friends and relatives Monday July 6, 2026 from 5-7PM at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William St., Pittston.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30AM on Tuesday July 7, 2026 in Communion of Saints Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 237 William St., Pittston, the funeral service will begin at 9AM in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Pittston Cemetery.
