Joseph J. Joyce, 87, of Dupont passed away Monday August 16, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. Born in Pittston on February 24, 1934 he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Traut Joyce.
A graduate of Pittston High School, Mr. Joyce was known by family and friends as “Tilt”.
After graduation Mr. Joyce was employed by Bertels Can Co. for over 45 years, where he was a member of the United Steel Workers’ Union.
Mr. Joyce along with his wife were active members of St. Joseph Marello Parish, Pittston and involved in many church activities. He was a founding member of the Pittston Area Band Parents Association where he formed many close friendships, enjoying trips and weekly get-togethers as the “Alumni Forever”. Mr. Joyce enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Dupont Men’s League. He was also a Judge of Elections in Dupont for many years and involved in the Dupont Crime Watch.
Along with his parents Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by his brother Robert Joyce and sister Margurite Fitzpatrick.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years Loretta Riccetti Joyce, Dupont, son Joseph G. Joyce and wife Bonnie, daughter Colleen Price and husband Ralph, grandchildren Michael and John Joyce and Brendon and Justina Price, all of Lansdale, also numerous nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 20, 2021, at 9:30AM in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston, with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 5-8PM in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
