Joseph "Joe" Tarity, 70, of Dallas passed away Saturday, January 28, 2024, at Highland Park Senior Living after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was proceeded in death by his parents James and Louise Tarity of Hughestown.
Joe is survived by his son Joe Tarity Jr of Kingston, daughter Jesse Tarity of Larksville, grandchildren Ari, Lil and Tommy, sister Cheryl Lucarelli (husband Arthur) of Old Forge, Sister Laura Rokita (husband Tom deceased), Brother Jim (wife Carol) of Clarks Summit and numerous nephews.
Joe was a graduate of Pittston area high school and went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Wilkes College and master’s degree from College Misericordia.
Joe worked many years locally in the human services field including as the vice president of operations at Children's Service Center.
Joe loved music and especially the Beatles. He taught himself how to play the guitar, bass and piano. He played in many local bands throughout the years. In addition to his love for music, Joe enjoyed coffee, golfing, spending time with his friends and family and Sunday dinners at his home. There will be a private graveside service for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his name. The family would like to especially thank the staff in the Bridges unit at highland Park senior living and the staff of Advantage Hospice for their exceptional care.
