Joseph John Sperrazza

Joseph John Sperrazza, 76, peacefully passed away Wednesday January 17, 2024 at his home in Sun City Center Florida.

On September 8, 1947, Joe was born to Thomas and Helene (Mack) Sperrazza where he was raised in Pittston, PA and was a proud graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1965.

Immediately after graduation, Joe entered the Marine Corps where he proudly served his country with an honorable discharge after earning the Purple Heart.

Joe met the love of his life, Dolores “Dee” (Fronczek) Sperrazza, when they were just teenagers working at Pete’s Pizza in Exeter, PA. He got the courage to ask for her hand in marriage, and they made it official in 1969, spending over fifty-four years married where together they built a family and a life filled with love and laughter.

Joe was a devoted father to Jeff and Donna, and doting grandfather to Alexander.

Joe furthered his education when he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Marywood College in 1979.

Joe spent most of his professional career still serving his country as a DOD civilian contractor. He worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, then Andrews Air Force Base, and finally Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC until his retirement in 2009.

He was a lifetime New York Giants, New York Mets and New York Yankees fan. He was an avid competitor in golf, pool and darts. He was well known at karaoke for his renditions of Elvis and Frank Sinatra. He always had a smile on his face for his family and friends.

In 1994, after Joe was transferred to Andrews Air Force Base, he founded the Southern Maryland Traveling Dart League, which is still in existence today. Through this league, countless friendships were made.

Joe will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his wife Dee, son Jeff (Lisa) Sperrazza and grandson Alexander, Pittsburgh PA, daughter Donna (Michael) Rambus, Owings, MD, brother Tom (Sandra) Sperrazza, Ormond Beach, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation to honor Joe’s life will be held on Wednesday January 31, 2024 from 5pm - 7pm and Thursday February 1, 2024 from 9am - 11am at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston, PA. Directly following visitation, Joe will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas, PA. A reception will follow where stories will be shared and memories cherished.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or their favorite charity in Joe Sperrazza’s name.
