Joseph K. Harding, Sr.

Joseph K. Harding, Sr., 87 of Yatesville, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, under the care of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart at Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, where he resided.


Born in Plainsville, on February 26, 1939, he was the son of the late Raymond C. Harding and Martha Lutz Harding. He was a graduate of the former Plains Memorial High School, and served in the US Army, stationed at Camp Lucas, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. After being honorably discharged from his military service, he worked for 40 years as a Tool and Die Machinist at the former Mid-East Aluminum Mountaintop.


Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Antoinette “Toni” Guarnieri Harding, in 2018 and his brother, Raymond C. Harding, in 2025.


Surviving are his sons; Joseph Harding, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Plains, David Harding and his wife Lisa, Pittston, and Robert Harding and his wife Trish, Yatesville, his grandchildren, Michael Harding and Raelyn Harding, brother-in-law, Sam “Greek” Guarnieri and sister-in-law, Dolores Traglia, and numerous nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends and relatives Friday June 12, 2026 from 9AM-10AM at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William St., Pittston.


A blessing service will be held at 10AM in the funeral home.


Interment will be held in Mountain View Burial Park, Harding, where US Army Funeral Honors will be bestowed.


The family extends its sincere appreciation to the staff of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Bayada Home Healthcare and Joe’s private caregivers.  Their patience, kindness and dedication not only enriched Joe’s life but also provided invaluable support and comfort to his family.


In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Gino J. Merli Center Resident Welfare Fund, 401 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.
