Karen Venetz, 71, of Exeter, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in Allied Services Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Taylor on April 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Grace Brown Shotwell.
Karen was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School. She had been employed by the Wyoming Area School District as Cafeteria Supervisor for 31 years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Venetz, Jr in 2018; and a brother, Matthew Shotwell, Jr.
Surviving are her children, Brenda Hughes, Pittston Township, Joseph Venetz III, Exeter; and Sandra Roche (Sean), Exeter; grandchildren, Brendan Venetz, Makada Venetz, Kianna Venetz, Joseph Venetz, IV, Isabella Hughes, Zachary Venetz, and Chloe Roche; sisters, Margaret Masiewicz, Pringle, Theresa Dente, West Pittston and Mary Briganti, West Pittston; brother, Robert Shotwell, Courtdale, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives Monday, August 21, 2023 from 5pm-8pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10am in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Those attending the mass are asked to go directly to church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
