Kathleen Ann Berto, 91, formerly of Pine Street, Pittston, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Pittston on October 19, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Kathleen Reilly Bender.
Ann was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School. She had worked as an examiner in the local garment industry and was a member of the ILGW Union.
Ann was a pillar of strength for her family throughout many obstacles. She surrounded her family and friends with endless love.
The family would like to thank Superior Home Health and Dr. Robert Yanoshak and the wonderful staff of 6th floor at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for their compassionate care.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony P. Berto; son, Sam A. Berto; granddaughter, Brittany
Berto; brothers, Hugh, Fred, Theodore, and Eugene Bender and sisters, Doris Bilbow and Alberta Smith.
Surviving are her daughters, Virginia Cosgrove Parisi, and husband Mike, Pittston and Jackie Scalzo and husband Michael, Hughestown; grandchildren, Jill Pentangelo and husband Tom, Laflin; Mary Ann Cosgrove, Pittston; Lauren Scalzo, New York City; Lia Scalzo, Jenkintown; and Dr. Taylor Berto and her fiancé, Atty. Luke Watterson, Leland, NC; sister-in-law, Rosalie Bender, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 4pm-7pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. Funeral services will be Friday, December 23, 2022 at 9am from the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment, parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fork Over Love, 345 Market Street, Kingston, PA 18704 or to the Social Concerns Committee of Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, PA18643.

I was so sorry to see that your Mother passed away. She was a wonderful woman- always with a smile on her face. I wish I lived closer so I could come and pay my respect and give you a hug.
