Leonard James Sarnick

Leonard James Sarnick, 60, of Plains, passed away Friday, September 16, 2022, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Plains on March 14, 1962, he was the son of Dorothy Pieck Sarnick and the late Leonard H. Sarnick.

He was a 1980 graduate of Coughlin High School and Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center. He was employed as head custodian at Wilkes-Barre Area School District.

He loved heavy metal music and horror movies. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite teams - USC football, Duke University basketball, New York Jets football and Los Angeles Chargers football. He enjoyed spending quality time with his close friends, going for breakfast at Scratch Kitchen, and jamming at 279 Bar & Grill. He treasured his many cats and beloved dog, Gypsy.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in

death by his father-in-law, Thomas Sartini.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deneen (Sartini) Sarnick; children, April Sarnick and Leonard Sarnick, III; motherin-law, Hilda Sartini, all of Plains; sisters-in-law, Maria Gyle (Wayne), Jenkins Township and Kimberly Sartini, Wilkes-Barre; godfather, Michael Pieck; godmother, Irene Long; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Special thanks to Plains Ambulance and the staff at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their care and service.

The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 4pm-7pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

i will never forget all the times we spent with each other as kids. every single week. the memories are a treasure to me.you dont know how much you will be missed. i love you my dear cousin

I'm truly going to miss our Thursday night chicken wings at the 279. He was great friend to everyone I am so glad for the good times we had . I feel like I lost a big brother. RIP Andy ( Gilligan)
