Lorraine D. Murphy, 88, of Hughestown, passed away at home Friday evening, March 31, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 25, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Primo and Vienna Carnevali Comodi.


Lorraine was a graduate of Hughestown High School and Lackawanna Business College. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for large family gatherings. Her true joy in her life was her grandchildren.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Murphy in 2017; infant daughter, Lori Ann Murphy; brother, August Carnevali; and step-father, John Comodi.


Surviving are her daughters, Deborah and her husband Robert Husty, Wilkes-Barre and Diane and her husband Nick Lello, Carlisle; grandchildren, Robert Husty and his fiancé Dyan Dinstel; Timothy Husty and his wife Sara; Megan Lello and her fiancé Tim Fox; Nicholas Lello and his wife Sarah; Christopher Lello and Julia Lello; sisters-in-law, Marion Carnevali, NJ; Mary Ellen Moran, Pittston Township and Maureen Murphy, Hughestown; brother-in-law, Edward Bohan and his wife, Kathleen, Brackney; numerous nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Gibbons, Dr. David Greenwald and staff of Medical Oncology Associates, and Connie from Residential Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Lorraine.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN38105.Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston.
