Luciana Pizzichelli DeLuca

Luciana Pizzichelli DeLuca passed away on Saturday Morning, December 7, 6 days before her 96th Birthday. She was born in Gubbio, Italy to Salvatore and Margherita Pizzichelli on December 13,1928.  She came to America in 1956 to stay with her relatives in Plains, and shortly thereafter met and married “her Gene”, with whom she shared 53 years of Marriage until his death in 2009.

Luciana was a spectacular cook, hostess, seamstress and friend, whose main joy in life was to have people in her home, where everyone was welcome, well fed, and wonderfully entertained.

She was a proud and nurturing Mother to “her Dorothy “and “her Jimmy”, but the true loves of her life were her Grandchildren, Cristina and Marco.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and was passionately devoted to the Blessed Mother.

Along with her Husband Gene, she was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws Patsy and Ida De Luca, Brother Mario Pizzichelli, Sisters-in-law Betty De Luca, Dorothy Gelso, Genevieve De Luca, Nina Pizzichelli and Brothers-in-Law James and George De Luca and Charles Gelso.

Surviving are her children Dorothy and Don Stella and Jimmy and Joelle De Luca, and Grandchildren Cristina and Rich Praefke and Marco De Luca, along with her Nieces and Nephews.

Luciana’s Family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the entire staff of Wesley Village West for the loving care they bestowed on her for the past year, and to the staff of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care in her last days.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations may be made to Little Eric’s Foundation, P.O. Box 1004, Pittston, Pa. 18640.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 13, 2024, at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston, celebrated by her beloved friend, Rev. Paul McDonnell, O.S.J.    The family will receive friends and relatives, in the church, from 8am until time of mass.  Interment will be private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.  Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston.
