Lucille Morgan, 83, of Exeter, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born March 3, 1942 in Pittston and raised in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Donata Panella Chiampi.

Lucille began each day reading the newspaper and checking the obituaries—so as difficult as this is to write, we hope it meets her standards (though she’d probably say it doesn’t).

A proud graduate of Exeter High School, Lucille dedicated her early years to raising her seven children, a full-time job that came with no sick days, plenty of noise, lots of love, and unexpected trips to the emergency room. Once all of her children were school-aged, she started her own business, Morgan Transportation. She treated every student she transported with the same care and attention she gave her children.

Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family. An exceptional cook and baker, she delighted in caring for not just her children but also their friends, neighbors, and anyone who walked through her door. She was always there for her grandchildren—at games, events, and every special moment.

Lucille was the heartbeat of her family and her home was a place of warmth and celebration. Holidays were spent surrounded by family and friends, with everyone gathered under one roof. Summers were filled with neighborhood cookouts, and she especially loved the annual family vacations to Ocean City, MD.

Lucille’s Sunday sauce was legendary, and during the holidays, her famous nut rolls were a gift eagerly awaited by neighbors and friends alike. Lucille had a fierce loyalty to her family, her friends, and her teams. She never missed her soaps on TV and was a die-hard fan of Penn State, the Eagles, and the Phillies—even when they tested her patience. She held court from her porch rocking chair, keeping an eye on the neighborhood, ready with a wave, a welcome, or a witty observation that was usually both honest and hilarious.

If you knew Lucille, you knew loyalty. You also knew you’d get the truth, unfiltered. She was the queen of the sassy remark, the surprise compliment, and the kind of advice that could either lift your spirits or raise your blood pressure.

She is survived by her children: Lucille Morgan (Rob), Donna Morgan, and, Melissa Gambini all of Exeter; Michael (Theresa) of Kingston; George (Mary) of Mississippi; John (Michelle) of Exeter; and Don (Angela) of Kingston. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Gabrielle, John Patrick, Aiden, Katherine, Jacob, Daniel, and Samantha Lucille—each of whom will be expected to carry on her legacy of loud kitchens, big hugs, and overfeeding everyone. She is also survived by her five, four-legged grand babies Honey, Skye, Maggie May, Mazie Grace and her best buddy, Boscoe. In addition; cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a great-great nephew and countless friends she considered family as she lived by the rule that blood wasn’t always thicker than water.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Morgan, Sr., who no doubt has already been handed a list of things to do. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, James M. Gambini.

She’ll be missed every single day—but we know she’s already keeping an eye on things from above, probably with a pot of sauce on and the Phillies game playing in the background. And if you’re reading this with your morning coffee, just know—she’d want you to eat something. Preferably a nut roll.

The family will receive friends and relatives, Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 4- 7 PM at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William St., Pittston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10 AM at the Parish of St. Barbara, 224 Memorial St., Exeter. Those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church.

Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton Road.
