M. Elizabeth (Betty) Connors RN, 88, of Pittston Township, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022 in Wesley Village.
Born in Pittston on August 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Grace Wilson.
Betty was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed as a school nurse in the Pittston Area School District. She enjoyed traveling across the country, her trips to the casino, going out to dinner (near and far), and spending time with her family. Nothing stood in the way of her love for her grandchildren. A sight rarely seen in the valley, she would often be spotted wearing custom shirts supporting both of her grandsons’ universities, University of Notre Dame and Penn State University.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Thomas F. Connors in 2017; Hugh F. Curley and his wife Loretta, whom she was raised by; her personal saint and sister in law Sister M. Eva Connors, brother and sister in law Jerry and Martha Connors, brother-in-law Anthony Starace, sister in law Kathy Wilson, and two infant sisters, Maureen and Sharon Wilson.
Surviving are her children, Karen Lettieri and her husband Fred, Old Forge; Kathleen Connors and her husband Bob Mahle, Wyoming; and Thomas Connors and his wife Kelly, Pittston Township; grandchildren, T.J. and Sean Connors; Freddie and Ryan Lettieri; and Julie Ann Mahle; brother, William R. Wilson and his wife Mary, NJ; sister, Patricia Starace, NJ; sister-in-law, Romaine Connors, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 25, 2022 at 11:00am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Care and Concern Ministries of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
