Marijo Ellen Tabone, 69, passed away on August 21, 2020. She was the loving daughter of the late Jeanne Ellen (Sammon) Tabone and Peter Joseph Tabone.

She was born in Pittston on March 12, 1951. Marijo was a graduate of West Pittston High School, Luzerne County Community College and Marywood University, during her college years she was a proud cheerleader for Kings College.
Marijo taught at Wyoming Area and Intermediate Unit 18 prior to caring for her parents. She was a dedicated caregiver to both parents during their golden years and prided herself in making sure that they had exemplary care.
She fondly reminisced about traveling with her mother to the UK and Ireland. They greatly enjoyed researching her mother’s Irish heritage.
The focal point in Marijo’s home was her mother’s piano. Marijo’s four nephews have vivid memories of Mama Tabone playing this beautiful instrument. Marijo enjoyed Mama’s daily, musical reperatoives which included a mix of musical genre. “When Irish eyes are smiling” was always included in Marijo’s requests. Family photography decorated Marijo’s home and was displayed in a meticulous arrangement of generations.
In addition to her parents, Marijo was preceded in death by her brother William Leonard Tabone; her maternal grandparents, Nora and Patrick Sammon; paternal grandparents Leonard and Pompian Tabone; and her Godparents Mildred Groak and Leonard Cumbo.
Surviving is her sister, Carol Tabit and her husband Emil Tabit; four nephews; Justin Tabone and his wife Daniela; Gavin Tabone and his wife, Danielle Tierney, Esq., Corey Tabit, M.D. and PJ Tabit. (Marijo was the most fun loving aunt in the entire world.)
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Marijo’s thoughtful neighbors and to those who provided services to her throughout her life’s journey.
A memorial mass is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 9:30AM at the Oblates of Saint Joseph Seminary, Yatesville. Due to the coronavirus mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.
The Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William St., Pittston has arranged Marijo’s memorial. She will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carverton, PA.
