Marjorie Viola Whispell

Marjorie Viola Whispell, 29, of Wyoming, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021, in University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 23, 1991, she was the daughter of Harold and Emmaruth Miller Whispell of Pittston.

Marj was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and Wilkes University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She was employed at New Story, Throop. Where she loved teaching her students and helping them grow.

Marj was artistic and enjoyed painting, drawing, and wood carving. She could always be found watching Grey’s Anatomy and Bobs Burgers. She loved spending time with her family and friends more than anything. A typical summer you wouldn't find her at home. She would always be out with her family and friends or on vacation with them. She loved Ocean City, Maryland where you could find her in a crab restaurant going for all you could eat crabs and a margarita.

Marj was the type of person who would spend the entire day just trying to make you happy. She just wanted to make you smile and could always accomplish doing so. She pushed you out of your comfort zone, and always tested you to one up her. She made you a better person. She had all the love in the world to give, and showered everyone close to her with it. She was the definition of the life of the party and having a good time. She was a loving fiancé and was dearly cherished by her friends. She will always be remembered, loved, and missed. The only thing she loved more was her dog, Sampson and two cats, Gunther and Chester.

In addition to her parents, Marj is survived by her fiancé, Aaron Sottolano, Wyoming; sister, Ruth “Gussie” Whispell and her boyfriend Michael Lukasik, Archbald; brother, Christopher Isaac Whispell, Pittston; Godmothers Helen Grace LePore, Florida and Donna Mack, Pittston; numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at a future date. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.

Ms. Marjorie brought so much joy to my son's life at New Story, and I can't thank her enough for all her kindness and patience with him. The times we talked even on video chat, she was a true gift to his learning experience. My heartfelt condolences go to her family and friends, and all who knew her, as I know she will be deeply missed.

My deepest condolences on the loss of Marjorie. My heart breaks for all of you. I have such wonderful memories of her. I was Marjorie’s teacher and advisor at Wilkes University. She possessed a passion and determination that I wanted to bottle and share with others. She never gave up and pursued her goals and always achieved them. Her beautiful smile and glowing soul will be missed. Marjorie was a very special person💗

My deepest condolences to you all. You don't know me personally, but I wanted to share -my sister and I both live out of town (I'm across the country), and Aaron took care of my mom's yard for her regularly before her death. Marj always came along, brought their dog, and used to sit and visit with my mom. I can't tell you how much our mom enjoyed those visits, chatting with Marj, sharing stories about us and the house and listening to what's going on in her life (and sharing her advice, whether Marj asked for it or not!). Mom always was so excited to see her and treasured their visits and couldn't wait to tell us about th…
