Mary Catherine “Kate” Ardoline

Mary Catherine “Kate” Ardoline, 89, of Pittston, passed away peacefully, Friday April 24, 2026 at home with family by her side.

Born in Pittston on January 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Frank “Hank” Walker and Anna Marie (Gallagher) Walker.

She was a graduate of Pittston High School and Lackawanna Business College. While raising her own children and for decades after Kate was a beloved caregiver, nurturing countless children. Her home was a sanctuary for many.

For over 20 years, Kate along with her husband and family owned and operated Joe Shag’s Bar and Restaurant, Pittston, where she was well-known and loved by all the patrons.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by sons, Frank Ardoline, Joseph “Archie” Ardoline, daughter, Mary Pat Strouse, and sister, Sue Malloy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph “Shag” Ardoline, with whom she recently celebrated 70 years of marriage and sons, Harry, Florida, and Michael “Migsy” (Robin), Enola, and daughter, Linda Ardoline (Chuck Grabosky), West Wyoming, son-in-law, Joseph Strouse and grandchildren; Eric Strouse (Caitlin), Jennifer Albus (Eric), Jeremy Ardoline (Regina), Michael Ardoline, Joseph Ardoline (Taylor), Franco Ardoline and Jackie Ardoline, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers; Frank “Hank” Walker (Sara), Jenkins Twp. and Martin Walker (Gail), South Carolina, brother-in-law, James Malloy, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated

Saturday May 9, 2026 at 11AM in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 10AM until the time of the mass in the church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC.
