Mary Louise Fitzpatrick

Mary Louise Fitzpatrick, 85, of Pittston, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Inpatient Unit, Dunmore.

 

Born in Pittston on March 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Louis Tuttilmond and Carmela (Nellie) Baiera Tuttilmond.

 

She was a graduate of Pittston High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Wilkes Barre.

 

She worked the majority of her years caring for the elderly at Valley Crest Nursing Home for 20 years, and then as a supervisor at United Methodist Homes Wesley Village. She ended her nursing career at Eye Care Specialists in the surgical center before retiring.

 

Mary Lou had many joys in life, but mostly enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Jim, shopping and lunching with her sisters, and cherishing the moments spent with children, grandchildren and Daisy May, her beloved dog, who never left her side.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Hope Fitzpatrick and sisters, Carmelita Maira, Leona Capitano, and Sara Murtha, sister-in-law, Rosemary McHale, and many wonderful brothers-in-law.

 

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, James J. Fitzpatrick; son, James Fitzpatrick (Donna), Pittston; daughters, Tammy Penxa (Andrew), Pittston and Amy Warunek (Michael), HollyRidge, NC; grandchildren, James and Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Adam Penxa, Nicholas, Noah and Isabella Petrucci, sister-in-law, Shirley Halford, Kingston and nieces and nephews.

 

Special thanks to Makenzie and the entire team at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.

 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore or Friends with Paws Pet Rescue in Scranton.

 

The family will receive friends and relatives Friday, April 10, 2026 from 5pm-7pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10am in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main Street, Pittston.  Those wishing to attend are asked to go directly to the church.

 

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
