Ms. Diann Marie Chairge

Ms. Diann Marie Chairge, RN, BSN, 56, formerly of Pittston Twp, asked Saint Peter for a light on February 9, 2022, when she reached the gates of Heaven.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 30, 1965, she was the daughter of the late Joseph N. Chairge, Sr. and Ruth Osick Chairge. After graduating from Pittston Area High School in 1983, Diann went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Misericordia University while working full-time at the family business, Celestino’s Restaurant.

Diann’s 30-year career started at Wilkes-Barre General hospital where she developed a passion for the Emergency Room and the fast pace that came with it. After leaving the Valley to feel the sun on her face and the sand between her toes, she furthered her career in the place she truly loved, Southwest Florida. With her skill, compassion, and sense of urgency, she thrived at Lee Memorial’s trauma center as a registered nurse in the emergency department and valued the time she spent there. After years in the emergency department, Diann traded her trauma shears in for an administrator’s badge and

accepted a Director of Nursing position at Naples Urgent Care. Her love of her profession was evident to those around her, especially patients, and those she mentored. Nursing was Diann’s calling, and she always said it was rewarding to be able to connect with patients and be a part of their journey, even under the most difficult circumstances.

When Diann was not running around a busy emergency room or acting as a medical liaison for her family, she was at the beach, her true “happy place”. There were two things you were always able to find in Diann’s car, a beach chair and expired toll notices. She adored the sun, sand, and views of the ocean. Watching the sunset over the ocean with Diann was always a profound experience. You would see her energy slow, her soul settle, and a totality of peace wash over her. Watching her was almost more beautiful than the sunset itself.

Diann had a deep connection to her friends and family. Her beautiful smile, witty remarks, and fearless nature will be sorely missed.

Diann is survived by her daughter, Abigail, and Fiancé, Robert; son, Kevin; sister, Christine and her husband, Richard; brother, Joseph, Jr and his wife, Charlene; Nieces, Amber and Bianca; Nephews; Joseph III, Matthew and his wife Brittnay, Richard, and Freddie in addition to great-nieces Isabella and Harlee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 10am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives, in the church, from 9am until time of mass. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, Pittston.
