Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Barbrie, III

Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Barbrie, III, 69, of Pittston, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Nick lived most of his life in Pittston, Pennsylvania and was a well-traveled citizen of the world. “The Galloping Ghost from the Barbrie Coast” was known for his resilience, courage, and perseverance. He served with valor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, regularly hitch-hiked his way across five states in courtship of his wife of 49 years, Gail Rose, and lovingly raised three amazing Barbrie men, Nicholas, Frank, and Anthony.

and Knight of Columbus, Nick was a tireless community leader. He flew a plane by feel alone, entertained Cardinals and Bishops, pinned championship wrestlers, knocked a boxer out of the ring with one punch , and wrangled the best deal in town all while beautifully serenading with accordion and tenor.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Debbie only saw the obituary today or else we would've contacted you sooner.

Nick was one of the funniest and warmest people I've known. He always made me smile with his jokes.

Please know that you and your family will be in my prayers during this most difficult of times.

Gail and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I know Nick from choir and I have to say he was the energy and the light up here in the choir loft . He was bigger than life and we'll miss him dearly. God bless may he rest in peace.
