Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Barbrie, III, 69, of Pittston, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Nick lived most of his life in Pittston, Pennsylvania and was a well-traveled citizen of the world. “The Galloping Ghost from the Barbrie Coast” was known for his resilience, courage, and perseverance. He served with valor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, regularly hitch-hiked his way across five states in courtship of his wife of 49 years, Gail Rose, and lovingly raised three amazing Barbrie men, Nicholas, Frank, and Anthony.

A stalwart elected constable of Pittston, devoted member of St. Joseph Marello Parish and choir,

and Knight of Columbus, Nick was a tireless community leader. He flew a plane by feel alone, entertained Cardinals and Bishops, pinned championship wrestlers, knocked a boxer out of the ring with one punch , and wrangled the best deal in town all while beautifully serenading with accordion and tenor.

Nick’s love for life was second only to his devotion to Gail, his boys, and his treasured grandchildren, Alisa, Luna, Anthony Jr., and Markus. His talents were endless, his energy boundless, and his love limitless.
