Patrick James Cosgrove

Patrick James Cosgrove, 78, passed away on January 20, 2026, at Allied Hospice in Wilkes Barre.
Born in Pittston on August 11, 1947, he was the son of the late James G. and Grace Loftus Cosgrove.

Patrick was a graduate of St. John’s High School, class of 1965 and Kings College, class of 1969.
Prior to retirement, he was President of Susquehanna Design Associates and Susquehanna Xerographic, as well as Senior Vice President of Topp Business Solutions.
His favorite pastimes included, golfing, cooking, and rooting for Notre Dame Football. Sadly, he was frustrated he never broke 80 at Fox Hill Country Club. Pat was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous with 40 years of continuous sobriety, helping countless people achieve similar life accomplishments through recovery.
Finally, Pat was always prepared to tell a good joke, and show a razor-sharp wit, yet always imparting a cherished life lesson. His wisdom and humor were infamous. These are the characteristics we will miss most about him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon White Cosgrove and sister, Maureen Cosgrove Barnhart.
Surviving are his son, Patrick Cosgrove and his wife Meredith, Wyoming and their children, Patrick and Aaron; brother, Michael Cosgrove and his wife Christine Poston, Lorton, VA; sister-in-law, Jennifer Azzolina and her husband Michael, Wilmington, NC; nieces and nephews Kevin, Christopher and Colleen Barnhart, WA and CA. Ashley White, Bethlehem, PA.
The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday, January 31st at 9 am. (1 hour before mass) in St. John the Evangelist Parish, 35 William Street, Pittston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

Pat was one of my favorite coworkers in the ten years I had Harris Teeter! Praying for the family!!!
Cosgrove family my deepest sympathy. Had the honor to work,golf,eat, and watch Notre Dame Carolina football with the man know in Wilmington as "Mr. Pat" by all. Became very good friends through the years, the ups, the downs.. always Mr Pat. never a bad day. His last text said Who's got it better than me...nobody!Patrick he was so proud of you and the grandkids So glad he came back home to PA to be with family!

Patrick and family- your father was a fine gentleman. The Harris Teeter family he was a big part of is greatly saddened. He was truly one of the good guys, and his smile and humor will be greatly missed. We are all much better people for having known him.
