Peter Latona, 85 of Pittston, passed away peacefully on August 14th, 2026 at the VA Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. He was the son of Giuseppe and Concetta (Pardo) Latona.

Peter was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared 65 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dora Latona, a remarkable testament to a life built together through love, loyalty, and hard work.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Louis Latona, Leo Latona, Joseph Latona and Sam Latona; sisters, Louise Navarro and Grace Sapparito.

Surviving are his children, Connie and Joseph Latona and wife Patty Latona. Grandchildren Brittany Reedy (Robert), Marisa Wesnesky (John), and Dillon Latona, and Ariana (Jacob Wysocki) and Nico Solano. And great-grandchildren Stella and Robert Reedy, Isla and JJ Wesnesky, and Amelia and Matteo Wysocki, and numerous nieces and nephews, all who brought him tremendous pride and joy.

A Marine through and through, he carried strength, determination, and toughness with him throughout his entire life. He was known as a tough guy, but beneath that toughness was a man deeply loved by his family and by everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He enjoyed the simple things in life such as hunting, a home-cooked meal, and watching Judge Judy. He was a devoted Catholic and a man of faith. His strength, humor, perseverance, and unmistakable personality will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the countless memories they shared.

He leaves behind a legacy of service to his country, devotion to his family, and a strength that will never be forgotten.

Peter’s family would like to give a special thank you to the team at the VA medical center for the excellent care they provided throughout his stay.

The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday August 20, 2026 in Communion of Saints Parish, at St. Mary Help of Christians Church, 575 N. Main St. Pittston, PA 18640 at 8:30am followed by mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
