Roger is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Mary Patricia Belles; daughter-in-law, Tanya Macareo; grand angel and apple of his eye, Lydia Gilpin; sister, Vicki Lynn Johnson, her husband Brian, and their children Tiffani Strickland, Nicole Paradiso, and Kimberly Taylor; brother, David Belles (whom Roger affectionately called "Boog") and his wife, Sandra; mother-in-law, Judith L. Roger was and will always be affectionately known as Roe by his brother Dave and the people he grew up with and held dear in his heart, including all of his aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom he spoke of fondly and often through the years.
He worked in many places, including Techneglas in Pittston for 10 years. In 2002, Roger moved from Exeter, PA to Virginia with his wife and best friend Trish, their son Jonathan, and "the guys," Rusty and Nugget. He worked at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, DC, retiring after 20 years on May 31, 2024. He was happy to celebrate that milestone with the friends he had made over the years.
He nurtured and loved his family deeply. He always made sure everyone, humans and fur babies alike, were fed, walked, happy, and well. He lovingly nursed Trish back to health after a recent illness, made new friends at most happy hours, and treasured every moment with Tanya and Lydia, who called him "Gampie."
He taught himself to play guitar at the age of 50, developing a passion fueled by his love of music. He delighted in planning vacations with Trish, making his signature "Royal Grilled Cheese" whenever a frying pan was available, and was just getting back on the golf course.

Dear Trish, so sorry for your loss and remember how much you talked about Roger and your son . I know we haven't seen each other in many years but know i'm here for you during this sad time in your life. Love, cindy - Action Personnel
Roger & Trish were my downstairs neighbors & I met them while helping Trish with Nugget. We came fast friends & enjoyed many fun times together from happy hours, to concerts, to watching football on Sundays to just hanging out in their apartment. When the three of us went out together it was Roger & his wife Trish & girlfriend Bev. Thanks to them I survived the blizzard, I believe it was 2007/08. We had back to back snows that year & when they were ready for me to come down Roger would turn the music up so I could hear it upstairs. So down stairs I would go where he would try to make me watch scary movies. Made…
I met Roger and Trish when I was 18/19(now 36) while working at Bob Evans they quickly became my regulars and more importantly family! I will always tell stories of our happy hours and will NEVER forget how many times we laughed til we cried! I am so thankful for the times we shared. Love you forever! -Jazz
