Rosaria M. Aita

Rosaria M. Aita, 83 of Pittston Twp., passed Thursday February 29th, 2024 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by her family.


Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the Vincent James Aita and Angela (Cannerossi) Aita. She was a graduate of Pittston Twp. High School and Empire Beauty School. In her earlier years, she worked as an at-home beautician. She spent the latter of her career in manufacturing working for RCA and retired from Harris Corporation.


Rosaria was devoted to her faith and believed in the power of prayer. She was an active member of the choir at St. Joseph Marcello Parish.  Rosaria, known by many nicknames (Ropie, Riz, Rose and Ro), loved spending time with her family at the cabin, cooking and prioritizing the happiness of others. She loved to play the guitar while everyone sang along. One thing that was particularly important to her was her love for the spontaneous entertainment of others, especially with her Saturday lunches, which she continued to host until her passing. She valued tradition and emphasized cooking inherited family recipes like her Easter pizza, frittata, raviolis and other Italian foods. She made everyone feel special, and her family would like to thank everyone who made her feel loved.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Patrick Aita and sisters, Angela Aita, Carmel Montini, brother-in-law Tony Montini and nephew Ricky Montini.


She is survived by her brother James Aita (Elaine), Old Forge, Sister in law Eleanor Aita, nieces and nephews; Anthony Montini (Bonnie), Donald Montini (Debbie), Patricia Koerber (Bruce, deceased), Diana Danbury (Bill), Vincent James Aita (Sue), Marie Ferriero (Lou), Patrick Aita (Tammy), Susan Wesnak (Bruce), and great nieces, great nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends and relatives Monday March 4, 2024, from 4-7pm at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday March 5, 2024 at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish 237 William Street, Pittston, those wishing to attended are asked to go directly to the church, interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
