Rose Johanna Rooney, 88, of West Pittston, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023.
Born on June 12, 1934 and raised in West Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Linus Yutches.
Rose was a graduate of West Pittston High School. Prior to retirement, she was a bookkeeper in local dress factories and retired from Aureus LTD, West Pittston.
She was kind and caring and always ready to help anyone in need. She often volunteered her time to help others. She loved to go out to eat, shopping, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen R. Rooney, Sr.; siblings, Michael Yutches and Mary Surack; and son-in-law, Anthony Basta.
Surviving are her children, Colleen Basta, Exeter; Maureen Gaydos, Pittston and Allen Rooney, Jr., West Pittston; grandchildren, Matthew Basta, Mark Basta, Leah Aftewicz and husband John, Heather Gaydos and fiancé AJ Shorts, and Arayah Rooney.
The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 3pm-5pm in Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston. A Blessing Service will take place on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
