Sally Ditoro, 91, of West Pittston, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

Sally was born in Pittston Sept 27, 1931, to the late Steryl Jones and Sara Tilley Jones. She grew up in Avoca and East Orange NJ., returning to this area in 1952 after the unexpected death of her father at age 39.
After raising 6 children, Sally went to work for the Social Security Administration, transferring to Florida for a few years, then returning to the area to care for her mother. She retired in 1993 after 20 years.
Whether she was taking in stray dogs or hosting her children’s many friends at sleepovers and pool parties, she devoted her life to her family. They were her sole purpose and she welcomed each new member with joy. She was a kind and generous mom and will be missed forever.
Sally was pre-deceased by her parents, Steryl and Sara Tilley Jones, son, Richard (Rico) Ditoro, in 2004, and her son in law Michael Policare, in 2008.
Her survivors include her brother Steryl Jones, Texas, her children, Deborah Ditoro Policare, West Pittston, Joe Ditoro (Linda), Peter Ditoro (Jeff), and Susan Ditoro Baum, all of Las Vegas, and Mary Ditoro Smith (Lloyd), Florida; grandchildren, Michael Policare and Jessica Policare, Heather Dean, Ralph Lizza, Jr., Chris Baum, and three great grandchildren, Sadie, Christopher, and Garrison.
Special thanks to her former doctor, Dr Ronald Nardell, who always showed such great kindness and concern, and to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, for their wonderful care in her remaining weeks.
Per her wishes there will be no services. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston.
