Salvatore J. “Sam” Iacona, 79, of Harding, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, in Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton.
Born in Pittston on September 18, 1943, he was the son of the late Cataldo and Adeline Mangione Iacona.
He was a graduate of St John the Evangelist High School and Kings County Nursing School, Brooklyn. He retired as a Registered Nurse from Clarks Summit State Hospital.
He loved camping and being outside in the warmer weather. He also enjoyed driving his truck and watching sports on television.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Beatty.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Sue Ann Vassello Iacona; children, Jason Iacona, Harding; Justin (Rachel) Iacona, Pittsgrove, NJ; Joseph (Linh) Iacona, Brooklyn, NY; and Sarah (Robert) Acquisto, Kingston; grandchildren, Justin, Alana, Bella, Emily and Nathan Iacona and Gabriella Acquisto; sister, Jeanne Evans, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 9am-11am in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main Street, Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am.Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC.
