Shirley A. Trotta, 88, of Pittston, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in The Gardens at East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Pittston on May 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. Trotta and Clara E. Dalessandro Trotta.
Shirley was a graduate of Pittston High School, class of 1953. In her earlier years, she had worked at Rex Shoe Company and retired after working 25 years for the Department of Public Welfare.
Shirley was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish and was a devout catholic. She especially enjoyed going to dinner with her friends and going to the casino. She also enjoyed hosting family gatherings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Phyllis Kane, Dolores Korpita, Richard Trotta and Daniel Trotta.
Surviving are her sister-in-law, Lucille (Petrucci) Trotta, Exeter; niece and caregiver, Robin (Trotta) Altobelli and her husband John, Jenkins Township, nephew Richard and Dr. Karin Trotta, Orefield, niece Renee Trotta, FL, nephew Corey and Kathleen Korpita, GA, nephew Bruce Condella, NJ, niece Gina Klatt, NJ, nephew Danny and Lisa Trotta, Enola; numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Robin wishes to express her gratitude to the nursing staff at The Gardens at East Mountain who provided loving care to Shirley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 9:30am in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Private interment, Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave. 16th Floor New York, NY 10001 or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston.
