Stephen Joseph Nemeth, 71, of Avoca, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday evening, September 10, 2022, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born on November 6, 1950, in Mt. Cobb, and raised in Throop, Stephen was the son of the late Gaza and Catherine Krahel Nemeth.
He was a graduate of Throop High School and Served in the US Navy. Prior to retirement, he was a heavy equipment mechanic for Linde Enterprises.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Michael Hoban.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Patricia Hoban Nemeth; daughters, Brianna Nemeth, Avoca and Brittany Maruska (Justin), Dupont; grandchildren, Gabriella, Alexander, Vienna, Anna and Sebastian; sister, Nancy, Lake Ariel; brother-in-law, Bob Hoban (Patti), Scranton; sisters-in-law, Mary Theresa Carey, Paula Hoban, and Maureen Kosik (Michael), all of Pittston; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10:00am in Queen of the Apostles Church, 715 Hawthorne Street, Avoca. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Marshwood Road, Throop. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, Pittston.
