Thomas M. Salvaggio, 86, of Plains, passed away Saturday evening September 20, 2025, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family.

Born in Pittston on March 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Jack Salvaggio and Carmella Nuzzalo Salvaggio. Tom was a graduate of West Pittston High School, Class of 1957. Tom was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.


Shortly after graduation, Tom started working for Deluxe Game Corporation, which later became Roth American. He worked for the company for over 35 years and eventually became Sr. Vice President of Purchasing & Scheduling.  Tom then worked in the local Real Estate industry; he was an agent for Atlas Realty from 1994-2021 and JJ Mantione Realty from 2021-2024.


Outside of his work, Tom enjoyed golf and bowling.  He was an avid and accomplished Bowler, regularly bowling in 2 leagues.  As a golfer, he had 3 holes-in-one, 6 eagles, won the Twilight League 2 times and won multiple tournaments.  He was a member of Fox Hill Country Club for over 50 years, where he was a former member of the Board of Directors and took pride in the club. Tom was an avid New York Yankee fan and enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. In his earlier years he coached for the West Pittston Little League. In later years, Tom volunteered his time at Corpus Christi parish, organizing food drives and distributing meals to the needy.  Tom was extremely proud of his family.  He cherished his grandchildren watching them grow and flourish before his eyes.  He especially enjoyed Thursday pasta nights at his home, watching Christian and Brendan playing golf and baseball, Christian performing at Carnegie Hall, Jenna’s dramatic performances in plays, and the numerous piano recitals by all three grandchildren.


 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Francis, Richard, and Michael Rosenko, and Frank Parente, sister-in-law Barbara Capozza.


Tom is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Marie Rosenko Salvaggio, and their daughters; Dawn Vincenti (Robert) and Jacqueline Shubzda (James), all of Plains. Also surviving, grandchildren; Jenna Vincenti, Christian and Brendan Shubzda, and siblings; Stephen Salvaggio (Carolyn), Mary Ann Polit (Sam), and Ann Marie Parente, and brother-in-law David Rosenko, numerous nieces and nephews. A constant part of Tom’s life, his cherished grandpets; Bella, Georgie and the late Beret.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday September 25, 2025 at 11AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:30AM until the time of mass. Private Entombment will be at Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville following the mass.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Social Concerns at Immaculate Conception Church.


The family would like to thank Tom’s son-in-law James Shubzda for not only taking him to appointments but for his kindness and compassion, your support has been invaluable to the family. They would also like to thank Commonwealth Home Health visiting nurses and Fresenius Kidney Care Center for their kindness and compassion.
