Veronica “Verna” Rohland, 81, formerly of Old Forge, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Scranton on February 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Gajiewicz Danoski.
Verna was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School and had worked at Topps Manufacturing for over 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Rohland; son, Pete Rohland, Jr.; brothers, Joseph and Clem Danoski and sisters, Antoinette Kakareka and Alfreda Barber.
Surviving are her daughter with whom she resided, Mary Butera and her husband Atty. Michael Butera, Exeter; son, Billy Rohland, Huntington; her one and only grandson who was the apple of her eye, Peter Butera; sister, Frances Toole, Moosic; numerous nieces
and nephews; and her faithful companion, Angel.
Verna’s family would like to thank the medical staff at Geisinger, specifically Dr. Woodward. Thanks also goes to Progressive Care nursing staff and Preferred Care at home, caretakers Sharon, Anna, Julie, and Lauren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 10:00am in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Verna’s memory to Corpus Christi Parish Social Concerns Committee. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston.
