William D. (Bill) Ames, Jr., 67 of Pittston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton.
Born March 16, 1958, he was the oldest son of William D. Ames Sr. and Anna Mae Matusevich Ames.
Bill graduated from Pittston Area High School and received an associate’s degree from Penn State University, Worthington Campus.
Bill, known for his charismatic nature and love for the Penn State Nittany Lions and Los Angeles Rams, will be remembered for his enthusiasm and appreciation for movies and the beach. He was an instigator of fun and effortlessly connected with everyone he met, whether lifelong friends, family, or passengers during his time driving buses and limousines.
He is survived by his children; William Ames III (Patricia), Laura (Joseph Jr.) Bleacher, and Alicyn (Samuel) Emerick; his five grandchildren, Colton, Easton, Mallory, Melissa, and Blakely; his siblings, Joe (Arlene) Ames, Bob (Terri) Ames, and Steve Ames; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Ames Sr. and Anna Mae Matusevich Ames, and his sister, Ellen Ames.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
