Helen Jean Dougherty, 89, of Hughestown passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Pittston on July 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Helen Connell Ruschel. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston.
She was a member of the former Blessed Sacrament Church, Hughestown and Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston.
She and her late husband, William P. Dougherty, enjoyed spending time at their Mountain Lake Home along with their family.
Surviving are her son, Timothy Dougherty and his wife Sherry, West Pittston; two daughters, Mary Pat Duffy, Pittston and Michele Binge and her husband Michael, San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Carl Ruschel and his wife Beverly, West Pittston; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00pm in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main Street, Pittston. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church from 12:00noon until the time of mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Rock Street, Hughestown. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William Street, Pittston.
