Joan Theresa Walsh Brennan passed away peacefully at her home in Newtown, Pennsylvania, on June 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pittston, Pennsylvania, on December 1, 1936, Joan was the daughter of the late Helen Kelly Walsh and Joseph Walsh. She attended Saint Ann’s Academy and Lackawanna College. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joan dedicated much of her life to serving others through volunteer work supporting Catholic education, the American Red Cross, and local civic and voting initiatives.
On November 28, 1959, Joan married her high school sweetheart, the late Patrick Anthony Brennan, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Pittston. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, sharing countless adventures while raising their four children: Patrick Brennan (Kristi), Catherine Herbert (Robert), Joseph Brennan (Dawn), and Kelly Kennedy (Joseph).
Joan was the proud and cherished grandmother of sixteen grandchildren: Alexandra Pagnotta (Alexander), Madeleine Drew (Kevin), Patrick, Caitlin, Christopher, Matthew, Walsh, Emma, Grayson, Finn, Brooks, Dutch, Ann, Bonnie, Philip, and Patrick. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family, especially her beloved great-grandsons, Rocky, Paddy, and Johnny Pagnotta.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; her parents; and her siblings, Joseph Walsh, Helen McClain, and Jean Walsh. She is survived by her sisters, Ann Marie Walsh and Mary Obzansky, as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.
Joan loved traveling and creating lasting memories with family and friends. She and Patrick were founding members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood, Tennessee, where they formed many lifelong friendships and deepened their commitment to their faith.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, June 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William Street, Pittston, Pennsylvania.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 15, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William Street, Pittston. Those attending the funeral are asked to proceed directly to the church. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carverton, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Avalon Action Alliance or the National Kidney Foundation. #Walsh #Brennan
