Salvatore Alaimo

Salvatore Alaimo, 97, of Yatesville, passed away peacefully Saturday November 15, 2025 at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Pittston on February 12, 1928 he was the son of the late Angelo and Carrie Latona Alaimo.

Salvatore enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, he honorable and heroically served in World War II and the Korean War. He later received an honorary degree from Pittston Area High School.


After his military service, he began his career at the United States Postal Service, working in New York City before returning to Pittston. He was a past president of the National American Retired Federal Workers Association Chapter 7123.


Sal later worked as a Pennsylvania State Constable, a position he held for several decades.

He was a member of the Dupont VFW Post 4909 and the AMVETS Post 189 Honor Guard. Sal recently received the Life Time Achievement Award at the 2025 Dupont VFW Veterans Day Ceremony.


Sal was a member of the Browntown Italian American Club, where he severed as a past manager, he was a member of the Avoca West Side Club, and the Yatesville Bocce Club, where he severed as past president and treasurer.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Breck Alaimo, his sons; Salvatore Alaimo, Jr. and Angelo Alaimo, and daughter-in-law, Connie Alaimo.


Sal is survived by his children; Andrea DeAngelo and her husband John, Dallas and Bill Alaimo and his wife Cindy, Pittston Twp., grandchildren; Chris Alaimo, Heather Shea (Gary), Marla Telford (Jim), Kerry Nystrand (Matt), Jamie Krogulski (Joe), great-grandchildren; Avery Telford, Logan Nystrand, and Joseph (JT) Krogulski, great-great-grandchildren; Eli Nystrand and Willow Nystrand. He is also survived by his sister, Caroline Adragna, Staten Island and numerous nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends and relatives Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4-7PM at Adonizio Funeral Home, LLC, 251 William St., Pittston, PA.


Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10AM in the funeral home; visitation will begin at 9AM.


Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
